What is coding? Why is it important? Why should I be coding in class? We will look at how coding fits into an early childhood and elementary classrooms and why you don't have to be a hacker to write code. Participants will get hands on experience with various apps and various unplugged lessons. We will look a Bee Bots, Dash and Dot, and Ozobots. We will learn how to connect these robots, and the unplugged coding, to literacy through retelling, and story development. We will connect the robots and unplugged activities to math for problem solving. All three robots will be used to show word identification, story path, beginning-middle-end and retelling. We will also learn the equivalent using unplugged methods.
